The Prophet and his companions made a move to Yasrib (Medina) after
previously entered into an agreement with the residents of Medina. Prophet and
his friend was greeted with a welcome that was quite encouraging. Person
Medina with full of hope over the ability to finish
conflict with the long-disputed Aus and Khajraj tribes. They
always at odds mainly because of their always attitude highlight which each group should be the leader,
because of that the presence of the Prophet is expected to mediate. 6
The Prophet began to organize in the political field starting with cultivating feelings
brotherhood between fellow Muslims and other people, he
managed to establish an alliance of various elements and ethnicities as well
different religions. Rich and poor are united and have
the same degree.7
Prophet Muhammad founded the country on the basis of equality, freedom
and brotherhood. They are united over the commonwealth of Islam, and because
this incident mankind today calls it the Medina banner.
At the beginning of the hijri year, the Prophet Muhammad founded a mosque
as a place to carry out rituals and social activities. In this mosque the Prophet
began his complete career as head of religion and head of government.
It was also in this mosque that the Prophet taught non-contradictory social practices
with the teachings of God which right, he leads the Muslims and ummah
other. Religious differences are not something that should be
eliminated. They get along well based on belief and religion
respectively, to you your religion and to us my religion they live
side by side. Although sometimes conflicts are caused by clans
Jews who like to pit each other and betray the covenants that have been
agreed, but the conflict that occurred in Medina was relatively smaller
compared to the conflicts that grew in Makkah.
According to historians, more or less in a period of two years at
the beginning of his pilgrimage, he announced a governing charter
the relationship between the communities in Medina. The charter
usually known as the Medina charter. This Charter is the constitution of
a foundation of the first Islamic state practiced by the Prophet Muhammad
saw. This Islamic political document regulates socio-economic conditions,
as well as military and religious life for all the inhabitants of Medina,
Muslim or not. For example in the economy, the Prophet
encouraging the rich to pay off the debts of the poor.
In social life, the Prophet ordered to maintain honor
family and neighbors, guarantee the safety of life and property for all
population. For the field of religion the Prophet freed religion according to
trust and faith respectively. Also law enforcement
indiscriminately, the court will punish whoever is guilty.
Therefore, according to Philip K. Hitti, the function of this Prophet in Medina was
as judges, religious leaders, policy givers, and commander-in-chiefs
the highest.
